One of the most decorated female student athletes in USI history, LeAnn Freeland was one of only twenty nominees for the NCAA II 25th Silver Anniversary Team. She was a three-time All-American and was named the College Sports National Player of the Year as a sophomore. In 1997, Freeland led the USI women’s basketball team to the NCAA II National Championship game. As of her Hall of Fame induction, Freeland holds nine career records at USI including points (2,269) and rebounds (961). She was the first two-time Academic All-American in USI history and was the first USI student-athlete to be awarded a prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship, which she used at USI. This year (2007-08), Freeland became the head women’s basketball coach at the University of Indianapolis.
