Prior to 1970
--Men's Basketball Industrial League Club team 1968-70
--Original nickname of athletic teams is the Spartans.

1970-71
--Men's Basketball becomes the University's first intercollegiate sport.
--Screaming Eagles selected as the nickname for the varsity sports.

1971-72
--Men's Golf and Baseball instated as varsity sports.

1972-73
--Men's Tennis instated as a varsity sport.

1973-74
--Baseball receives a bid to the NAIA Tournament.

1975-76
--Women's Basketball becomes first women's intercollegiate sport, participating in the AIAW (There were no NCAA sponsored events for
   women at this time.)

1976-77
--Women's Softball and Tennis become a varsity sports.
--USI joins the NCAA.

 1977-78
--Men's Basketball makes first NCAA Division II Tournament appearance and is the Great Lakes Regional Runner-up.

 1978-79
--USI is one of the founders of the GLVC.
--Men's Bowling is a varsity sport for one year.
--Women's Basketball wins Indiana AIAW Southern District Championship.
--Cortez Collins becomes Men's Basketball's first All-American.

1979-80
--Men's Soccer and Cross Country and women's volleyball become varsity sports.
--Men's Basketball wins first GLVC championship and is ranked in the NCAA II Top 10 for the first time.
--Men's Tennis is co-GLVC Champions.

1980-81
--Men's Soccer and Cross Country win first GLVC Championships.
--Men's Cross Country finishes 17th nationally at the NCAA Division II National Championships.

--Men's Basketball is fourth in the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional.

--Men's Cross Country places 11th at the NCAA II National Championships.

 1982-83
--Men's Soccer hosts NCAA II Tournament first round game, losing to Oakland University, 1-0.
--Baseball wins first GLVC Championship and earns first bid to the NCAA II Tournament bid (finishes third in regional).
--Men's Cross Country places 3rd at the NCAA II National Championships.
--Todd Reller becomes the first Men's Cross Country All-American.
--Men's Basketball is third in the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional.
--USI wins its first GLVC All-Sports Trophy.

 1983-84
--Men's Cross Country places fourth at the NCAA II National Championships.
--Stewart Dowd becomes the first USI All-American in Men's Soccer.

1984-85
--Men's Cross Country places fourth at the NCAA II National Championships.
--Women's Cross Country added as a varsity sport. 

1985-86
--Men's Cross Country places 15th at the NCAA II National Championships.
--Dave McAtee is the first USI Men's Golfer to advance to the NCAA II National Championships as an individual.
--Former All-American John Hollinden's jersey, #52, is retired.

1986-87       
--Men's Cross Country places 11th at the NCAA II National Championships.
--Men's Basketball is third in the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional.

1987-88
--Men's Cross Country places 11th at the NCAA II National Championships.
--Women's Cross Country dropped as a varsity sport.

1988-89
--USI hosts the NCAA II Cross Country National Championships at Oak Hill Golf Course. Men's Cross Country finishes 15th nationally.

1989-90
--USI hosts the GLVC Men's Soccer Tournament winning the first of four straight GLVC titles.
--Men's Basketball is fourth in the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional.

1990-91
--USI announces it will restart Women's Cross Country as a varsity sport in 1992. 

1992-93
--Women's Cross Country re-instated as a varsity sport.
--Men's Soccer goes Division I for the next three years.
--Baseball hosts its first GLVC and NCAA II Central Regional. Takes second in the regional.
--Men's Basketball hosts NCAA II Great Lakes Regional for the first time and places third.
--Softball wins program's first GLVC title, led by coach Tom Rupert.

1993-94
--Men's Basketball wins its first NCAA II Great Lakes Regional at home and advances to the Elite Eight for the first times. USI finishes the year
   as the NCAA II Tournament finalist.
--Baseball's Kevin Brown is drafted in the second round of the MLB Free Agent Draft by the Texas Rangers.
--Men's Basketball's Craig Martin becomes USI first student athlete to win the GLVC's Paragon Award.
--Kathy Lauck becomes Women's Basketball's first USI All-American.
--Volleyball's Sheri Kaiser becomes USI's first Academic All-American (third team).
--Men's Basketball's Chris Bowles becomes the first USI student athlete to be named a national Player of the Year.
--Amber Huse is Softball's first All-American.
--USI wins the GLVC All-Sports Championship.

1994-95        
--Jennifer Galbraith becomes Women's Cross Country's first All-American.
--Men's Basketball ranked NUMBER ONE NATIONALLY for the first time.
--Men's Basketball wins its first NCAA II National Championship.
--Women's Basketball earns first berth into the NCAA II Tournament and falls in the second round.
--Stan Gouard of Men's Basketball and LeAnn Freeland of Women's Basketball are named national Players of the Year.
--Amber Huse and Karianne Osowski become Softball's first Academic All-Americans.
--Softball earns first berth into NCAA II Tournament.

1995-96       
--Men's Basketball hosts the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional and is the regional runner-up.
--Stan Gouard of Men's Basketball is named the national Player of the Year.
--Women's Basketball earns berth into NCAA II Tournament and falls in the second round.
--Men's Golf is second at the NCAA II North Regional and 17th at the NCAA II National Championships.
--Ben Roback wins the NCAA II North Regional individual championships.
--Softball's Amber Huse becomes USI's first female winner of the GLVC Paragon Award.

1996-97        
--Men's Cross Country's Elly Rono named NCAA II Runner of the Year.
--Women's Soccer becomes a varsity sport at USI and advances to the GLVC Tournament.
--Women's Basketball wins its first NCAA II Great Lakes Regional and finishes the year as the NCAA II Tournament Finalist.
--Men's Basketball falls in the first round of the NCAA II Tournament.
--Women's Basketball's LeAnn Freeland named the GLVC Paragon Award winners. She also becomes the first USI student athlete to earn
   an NCAA post-graduate scholarship.

1997-98        
--Men's Cross Country's Elly Rono wins the Division II National Championship and is the NCAA II Runner of the Year. He goes on to win the
   first Men's Indoor and Outdoor Track National Championships.
--Women's Cross Country earns its first berth to the NCAA II National Championships, finishing 12th.
--Men's and Women's basketball are both ranked NUMBER ONE nationally. They become the first program to have both teams
  ranked number one and play in the same gym  on same night. 
--Women's Basketball hosts the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional for the first time, stumbling in the first round.
--Men's Basketball is the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional runner-up.
--Women's Basketball's Eileen Weber named the GLVC Paragon Award winner.
--Softball posts program-record 48 wins and advances to NCAA II Tournament for the first time under coach Beth Watson.

1998-99       
--Women's Soccer earns its first berth in the NCAA II Tournament and hosts an NCAA II quarterfinal game at Strassweg Field.
--Amy Henkhaus and Megan Russell become Women's Soccer's first All-Americans.
--Women's Cross Country advances to the NCAA II National Championships and finishes eighth.
--Men's Basketball is the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional runner-up.
--Men's Tennis wins its first GLVC Team Championship.

1999-2000   
--Women's Cross Country advances to the NCAA II National Championships and finishes ninth.
--Men's Basketball is the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional runner-up.
--Women's Soccer student athlete Megan Russell has her art work on display for the 2000 Olympic Games.
--Men's Tennis earns its first berth in the NCAA II Tournament.

2000-01       
--Volleyball wins program-record 27 matches and hosts its first GLVC Tournament, finishing as the runner-up.
--Women's Basketball wins its second NCAA II Great Lakes Regional and earns a berth in the Elite Eight, falling in the first round.
--Men's Basketball falls in the first round of the NCAA II Tournament.
--Melissa Eddy becomes the first Women's Outdoor Track All-American.
--Andrew Majxner first Men's Tennis player named Academic All-American.
--Men's Tennis earns a berth  in the NCAA II Tournament and wins its first match in the national post-season.
--USI Athletics recognized by USA Today for academic success by its student athletes.

2001-02       
--Women's Basketball hosts the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional and is the regional runner-up.

2002-03       
--Volleyball wins its first GLVC Tournament championship and earns a berth in the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional.
--Volleyball's Kristi Kavanaugh is named Academic All-American.
--Women's Cross Country advances to the NCAA II National Championships and finishes 14th.
--Men's Soccer's Duncan Bray is named Academic All-American and NSCAA Scholar All-American.
--Men's Basketball is the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional runner-up.
--Women's Track & Field places ninth nationally at the NCAA II Outdoor Championships.
--Abby Boberg (high jump) becomes USI's first Women's Indoor Track & Field All-American.
--Amanda Zehner is the first USI Women's Golfer to advance to the NCAA II East Regional.
--Women's Tennis earns its first berth in the NCAA II Tournament.
--Volleyball's Shannon Wells earns the GLVC Paragon Award.

2003-04
--Women's Cross Country advances to the NCAA II National Championships and finishes 12th.
--Kim Boehmer named AVCA All-American, becoming volleyball's first-ever All-American.
--Men's Basketball wins the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional and advances to the Elite Eight for the third time and finishes as the tournament
   finalist.
--Women's Track & Field places seventh nationally at the NCAA II Outdoor Championships.
--Heather Cooksey becomes the first female national champion at USI in Women's Outdoor Track & Field.
--Women's Golf advances to the NCAA II East Regional as a team for the first time.
--Men's Soccer Duncan Bray named the GLVC Paragon Award winner.
--Dr. Charles Bertram, Stan Gouard, and LeAnn Freeland named to the GLVC Hall of Fame.
--Baseball's Matt Keener named first-team Academic All-American
--USI wins the GLVC All-Sports Championships and the Commissioner's Cup.

2004-05       
--Volleyball wins GLVC Tournament Championship and earns a berth in the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional.
--Laura Ellerbusch becomes second volleyball All-American, earning AVCA honorable mention honors.
--Joe Epkey becomes the first USI Men's Tennis Player to advance to the ITA National Championships, finishing second in Division II.
--Candace Perry wins national title in the long jump at the NCAA II Outdoor Championships, becoming USI's second female student-athlete to win a national championship.
--Baseball's Matt Keener becomes USI's first student athlete to be named first-team Academic All-American two-straight years.

2005-06
--Laura Ellerbusch named AVCA National Player of the Week
--Women's Cross Country's Allison Shafer is named GLVC Freshman of the Year
--Men's Tennis wins GLVC Tournament
--Softball coach Sue Kunkle is named GLVC Coach of the Year as Eagles advance to NCAA II Tournament for first time since 1998.

2006-07
--Baseball wins its first NCAA Division II Midwest Regional championship and makes its first appearance in the NCAA II Championship Series.
--Baseball's Darin Mastroianni was named Midwest Regional Player of the Year, first-team All-American, and third-team Academic
   All-American. He is drafted in the16th-round by the Toronto Blue Jays after the season.
--Men's Cross Country's Paul Jellema is named All-American.
--Men's Basketball's Chris Thompson named first-team All-American, as well as Great Lakes Region and co-GLVC Player of the Year.

2007-08
--Men's runner is named All-American four times (three for Track and Field, one for Cross Country) Paul Jellema.
--Softball's Sara Loete is named first-team All-American. 

2008-09
--Men's Tennis' Diego Gimenez and Joseph Boesing earn berth in the ITA National Championships; finish fifth.
--Mary Ballinger wins national championship in the steeplechase at the NCAA II Outdoor Championships.

2009-10
--Baseball wins its' first national championship led by NCAA Championship Series Most Outstanding Player Taylor Dennis.
--Tracy Archuleta named NCAA II and Midwest Region Coach of the Year.
--Women's Golf's Angel Dehning wins GLVC Individual Championship.
--Chris Crawford wins GLVC Men's Tennis Coach of the Year award.
--Men's Basketball's Jamar Smith named Division II National Player of the Year.

 2010-11
--Women's Soccer coach Krissy Engelbrecht is named GLVC Coach of the Year.
--Women's Golf wins GLVC Championship, while Jessica Collins receives individual berth in the NCAA II Regional.
--Volleyball earns berth in the NCAA II Tournament for the first time under coach Leah Mercer.
--Men's Tennis' Diego Gimenez and Juan Quiroz earn berth in the ITA National Championships; finish sixth.
--Baseball earns berth in the NCAA Midwest Regional, as coach Tracy Archuleta is named GLVC Coach of the Year.

 2011-12
--USI has a school record five Academic All-Americans – Susan Ellsperman (Women's Soccer), Ben Boesing (Men's Tennis), Kristin O'Haver
   (Softball); Jackie Henderson (Women's Cross Country); Brendan Devine (Men's Cross Country).
--Volleyball earns a berth in the NCAA II Tournament led by GLVC Player of the Year Danielle Lagrange.
--Men's Basketball wins the GLVC Basketball Tournament, defeating three-straight ranked teams, and earns a berth in the NCAA Midwest
   Regional.

 2012-13
--Men's Basketball is runner-up in the GLVC Tournament and wins its first NCAA Tournament game under coach Rodney Watson.
--Johnnie Guy, Michael Jordan team up to capture combined five All-America awards at NCAA II Indoor & Outdoor Championships.

2013-14
--Women's Cross Country captures third consecutive GLVC championship and fifth in six years
--Men's Cross Country wins ninth straight GLVC title and its 21st overall
--Johnnie Guy wins GLVC Cross Country title, then finishes 9th at NCAA II Championships to earn All-America honors
--Women's Soccer's Jackie Lohman joins Men's Cross Country's Johnnie Guy as National Athletes of the Week
--Leah Mercer named GLVC Coach of the Year as volleyball earns third NCAA II Tournament berth in three years.
--Men's Basketball wins GLVC Tournament for second time in three years, this time winning it in Evansville's Ford Center
--Men's Basketball's Aaron Nelson earns GLVC co-Player of the Year honors before earning Midwest Region Player of the Year and All-America accolades
--Women's Basketball's Anna Hackert nabs two All-America honors, first for women's hoops player since 2002
--Men's Indoor Track & Field has three student-athletes earn All-America honors at NCAA II Indoor Championship
--Johnnie Guy wins national championship in 10,000 meters at NCAA II Outdoor Championships, then goes onto finish 3rd in 5,000 meters
--On the strength of three top-15 finishes, Men's Cross Country/Track & Field finishes third, nationally, in USTFCCCA Program of the Year Standings.
--Baseball wins NCAA II Midwest Region title, then goes on to capture second national championship in program history and first since 2010. Matt Chavarria
   named the series Most Valuable Player. 
--Tracy Archuleta named the NCAA II and Midwest Region Coach of the Year. 
--USI Athletics finishes 32nd in final NACDA Cup Standings.

2014-15
-USI finishes 24th in the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standing, the highest finish in program history. 
--Women's Cross Country captures fourth consecutive GLVC championship and sixth in seven years

--Men's Cross Country wins 10th-straight GLVC title and its 22nd overall
--Johnnie Guy wins GLVC Cross Country title, then finishes 8th at NCAA II Championships to earn All-America honors

--Tyler Pence wins NCAA II Midwest Region Cross Country title, then finishes 7th at NCAA II Championships to earn All-America honors
--Tyler Schickel finishes 40th at NCAA II Cross Country Championships to join Guy and Pence in earning All-America honors, marking the first time in program history USI has had three All-Americans in the same season
--Men's Cross Country finishes seventh at the NCAA II Championships
--Julia Kohnen captures All-America honors in cross country with an 11th-place finish at the NCAA II Championships, the second-highest finish in program history
--Johnnie Guy named GLVC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year after winning the 3,000 meters and the 5,000 meters at the GLVC Championships
--Women's Basketball wins 25 games, advancing to the championship game of the GLVC Tournament before earning its ninth trip to the NCAA II Tournament
--Women's Basketball's Anna Hackert earns All-America honors for the second straight season
--Tyler Pence wins national championship in the indoor 5,000 meters, then finishes fifth in the 3,000 meters the next day

2015-16
--USI finishes 25th in the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings, second-straight top 25 finish. 
--Baseball wins fourth NCAA II Midwest Regional championship, finishes tied for fifth at the NCAA II Baseball Championship.
--Kyle Kempf breaks the USI all-time record for hits. 
--Men's Cross Country/Track & Field ties for seventh in the USTFCCCA Program of the year standings (third straight top 10 finish).
--Men's & Women's Cross Country wins the GLVC Championships. The title was the 11th-straight for the men's team and the fifth-straight for the women's team. 
--Anastasia Carter becomes the first player in USI women's golf history to advance to the NCAA II Championships. Carter finishes tied for 26th. 
--Men's and Women's Track & Field tied for 10th at the NCAA II National Championships.
--Emily Roberts places fifth at the NCAA II Cross Country National Championships, tying the best individual finish in program history.
--Emily Roberts also was second in the 10,000 meters at NCAA II Track & Field Outdoors National Championships.
--Softball's Haley Hodges named GLVC Player of the Year and first-team All-America by three different entities after setting single-season school records for home runs (22), RBIs (72) and slugging percentage (1.000)--Hodges led the nation in slugging percentage and was the second straight GLVC Player of the Year for USI Softball.
--Johnnie Guy finishes his career with 16 All-America honors, while Tyler Pence concludes his time at USI with nine All-America awards. 

2016-17
--USI finishes 31st in the Learfield Sports Director's Cup. 
--Men's Soccer earns a trip to the NCAA II Midwest Regional for the second time in the history of the program, advancing to the second round.
--Men's Soccer Eric Ramirez named the GLVC Freshman of the Year.
--Women's Cross Country finishes program-best fifth at NCAA II National Championships as Emily Roberts, Jessica Reeves finish fifth and ninth, respectively.
--Men's and Women's Cross Country continues to dominate GLVC as men win 12th straight title and women win sixth consecutive crown.
--Emily Roberts named GLVC Runner of the Year after winning GLVC Cross Country Championship, while Jessica Reeves was named Midwest Region Runner of the Year after winning NCAA II Midwest Regional.
--Mike Hillyard (MXC & WXC), Rick Stein (WBB) and Sue Kunkle earn GLVC Coach of the Year accolades in their respective sports.
--Women's Basketball wins GLVC East Division by three games, finishing with 24-5 overall record and 16-2 mark in GLVC play.
--Bastian Grau wins NCAA II Indoor Track & Field Championship in the men's mile after helping the distance medley relay team to a fourth-place finish and one of the fastest times in NCAA history.
--Softball wins its first-ever NCAA II Midwest Region title to advance to the NCAA II Championship Series for the first time in program history.
--Jennifer Leonhardt named GLVC and Midwest Region Freshman of the Year as well as Midwest Region Pitcher of the Year after setting USI Softball's single-season school record with 29 wins.
--Haley Hodges joins Marleah Fossett and Jennifer Leonhardt in earning All-America honors after setting program's career records for home runs (44), RBIs (172) and slugging percentage (.654).
--Lucas Barnett named the GLVC Baseball Pitcher of the Year.

2017-18
--USI wins the GLVC Commissioner's Cup.
--USI finishes 59th in the Learfield Sports Director's Cup.
--Women's Cross Country wins seventh-straight GLVC Championships
--Men's Cross Country wins 13th-straight GLVC Championship and GLVC record 25th championship.
--Men's Cross Country Austin Nolan wins the GLVC individual championship 
--Mike Hillyard (MXC & WXC) and Rick Stein (WBB) wins GLVC Coach of the Year awards. 
--Women's Basketball wins GLVC East Division championship and advances to the finals of the GLVC Tournament.
--Softball wins its first-ever NCAA II National Championship after winning its second-straight Midwest Regional Championship. 
--Jennifer Leonhardt (SB) is named the Most Outstanding Player at the NCAA II Softball Championship and is named All-American.
--Drake McNamara (BB) is named the All-American by ABCA, NCBWA, and D2CCA; NCAA II Midwest Player of the Year ABCA & NCBWA;
   first-team All-Midwest Region; GLVC Player of the Year; and All-GLVC after setting the USI career and single season record for home runs and the single-season mark for RBIs.  
--Baseball wins its fifth NCAA II Midwest Regional championship. 

2018-19: 
--USI finishes 61st in Learfield Sports Director Cup.
--Men's Cross Country wins 14th-straight GLVC Championship and a GLVC record 26th championship.
--Men's Cross Country Austin Nolan wins the GLVC individual championship for the second-straight year.
--Men' s Cross Country Head Coach Mike Hillyard named GLVC Coach of the Year.
--Men's Basketball wins the NCAA II Midwest Regional and advances to the NCAA II Elite Eight semifinals for the fourth time in school history. 
--Men's Basketball's Alex Stein wins the GLVC Paragon Award after a season that saw him set the USI career and season record for scoring.  
--Softball appears in its third-straight NCAA II Tournament. 
--Men's Soccer hosts the NCAA II Midwest Regional for the first time since 1982 and wins GLVC regular season for the first time since 1990. 
--Men's Soccer Sean Rickey named D2CCA All-American and the GLVC Offensive Player of the Year. 
--Men's Soccer Head Coach Mat Santoro named GLVC Coach of the Year.
--Women's Soccer wins a share of the GLVC regular season crown for the first time in program history. 

2019-20:
--USI finishes 28th in Learfield Sports Directors Cup
--USI Athletics opens Screaming Eagles Arena
--Men's Cross Country wins 15th-straight GLVC Championship and a GLVC record 27th championship.
--Men's Cross Country Titus Winders wins GLVC Championship, marking the third-straight individual title for the Eagles & eighth in nine years.
--Men's Cross Country Head Coach Mike Hillyard named GLVC Coach of the Year for the 15th-straight season and 17th overall. 
--Men's Cross Country Austin Nolan named GLVC Scholar Athlete of the Year for third-straight year.
--Women's Cross Country wins its 13th GLVC Championship and eighth in nine years. 
--Women's Cross Country Head Coach Mike Hillyard named GLVC Coach of the Year for 12th time. 
--Women's Soccer wins first GLVC Tournament Championship and advances to NCAA II Tournament for second time. 
--Spring Seasons, NCAA II Basketball Tournament; NCAA II Indoor Track; and NCAA II Spring Championships canceled due to COVID-19. 

2020-21:
--USI wins GLVC Commissioners Cup
--USI wins the GLVC Volleyball Championship

2021-22:
--USI applies to transition to Division I.
--Men's Track & Field Titus Winders wins two NCAA II Indoor Track & Field National Championships in back-to-back days, winning the 5,000m and 3,000m.
--Softball Head Coach Sue Kunkle named GLVC Coach of the Year for the third time.

--USI's second year of transition to Division I.

2024-25:
--USI's third year of transition to Division I.
--Men's Cross Country wins OVC team and individual titles (MXCC Brady Terry).
--Women's Cross Country wins OVC team championship.
--Cross Country Head Coach Mike Hillyard named Men's and Women's OVC Coach of the Year.
--Women's Basketball earns berth in the WNIT, receives a 1st round bye and hosts a sweet 16 game for the second-straight year.
--Freshman Hadessah Austin won both 5,000m and 10,000m races and was named the OVC Freshman of the Year for Outdoor Track.
