Hall of Fame
Dr. Donald Bennett was the second Director of Athletics who was not a coach at USI and was the Vice-President of Student Affairs from 1970-95. He was responsible for the hiring of USI Hall of Fame members Chancellor Dugan and Bruce Pearl, who helped lead the department into the national spotlight. He was instrumental in the creation of the modern-day Athletic Department and the Varsity Club. A Varsity Club scholarship is still issued in his name. Dr. Bennett passed away in July 2010.
