Chad Gilbert ’97 was the NCAA II Great Lakes Region Tournament Most Outstanding Player in 1995, the year USI captured the NCAA II National Championship. A two-time All-GLVC performer, Gilbert was recognized as an All-American by three different organizations in 1996 after being named the GLVC Player of the Year and leading the Eagles to the NCAA II Great Lakes Region championship game. He ranks 18th all-time at USI in career scoring (1,011) and is tied for 20th all-time in career rebounding (431).
