Deb Schutte was one of USI’s first female student athletes and the first to receive an athletic scholarship, playing tennis, softball, and basketball from 1975-78. One of USI’s all-time great rebounders, Schutte finished her career as USI’s all-time leader in points (675) and rebounding (600). To this day, Schutte still holds the school records for career rebounding average (14.3 rpg) and single-season rebounding average (15.1 rpg). Schutte also holds the program’s single-game record with 21 rebounds. She currently ranks 29th all-time at USI in career scoring and seventh all-time at USI in career rebounding.
