Chris Bowles was USI’s first Division II Basketball Player of the Year. A three-time All-American as well as a four-time All-Region and All-GLVC selection, Bowles was the GLVC Player of the Year in 1994, GLVC Newcomer of the Year in 1991, and the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional Most Outstanding Player in 1994. Bowles helped lead USI to the 1994 NCAA II Championship game before finishing his career as USI’s all-time leading rebounder and second all-time leading scorer. He also holds the single-game scoring record (45), which he set as a freshman in 1991. After leaving USI, Bowles played extensively as a professional in Europe and South America.
