A two-sport athlete at USI, Dan Labhart ’81 started all four years as a centerfielder for the Screaming Eagles’ baseball team, two years as captain. He anchored the middle of the batting order and is a member of the .300 batting average club. Drafted by the Kansas City Royals, Labhart did not pursue a career in the major leagues.

In basketball, Labhart started every game for four years as a point guard, three years as the captain. Playing for USI Hall of Fame coach Wayne Boultinghouse, he averaged over 10 points per game and ranks in the top 20 all-time in career scoring (1,041). He was named to the NCAA II Great Lakes Region All-Tournament team twice.
