EVANSVILLE, Ind.- University of Southern Indiana Men's and Women's Diving concludes regular season competition with another trip to the Windy City at the University of Illinois-Chicago on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Meet Information
The meet is strictly a diving only competition with the meet information and updated results posted at the link above. The meet will hold one-meter and three-meter competition, along with the return of last year's mixed format with three participants from both the men's and women's side working together for six dives off both boards.
The Screaming Eagles return to the Flames Natatorium in downtown Chicago for the third time in the past two seasons. In February of 2024, USI competed in the same diving only event where sophomore
Nathan Deputy placed fifth in the three-meter. Sophomore
Maranda Uttke placed second in the one-meter.
Fast forward to 2025, USI competed in a head-to-head meet against the Flames. Freshman
Anna Bunnell placed third with a score of 234.30 pts in the three-meter and second in one-meter at 240.68 pts. Junior
Lane Pollock finished fourth in the one-meter, while Deputy led the three-meter in sixth. UIC won all four diving events.
UIC
The Flames men's squad is currently 6-2, while boasting some impressive diving scores. Junior Harrison Nolan leads the team, owns the one-meter school record (388.13 pts) and the three-meter record (417.90 pts). As a sophomore, Harrison recorded the highest ever score by a UIC diver at the NCAA Zone Championships, placing 10
th in the one-meter.
The UIC women are 5-3, beating the Eagles in January. The Flames are led by juniors Kerry-Leigh Morrison and Kathryn Kleczka. Morrison outscored Bunnell in the one-meter event taking first at 261.08 pts, while Kleczka earned the three-meter victory at 258.15 pts.
USI Men Diving
The Eagles squad consists of four athletes in freshman
Lucas Herbst, sophomore
George Blake, Deputy, and Pollock. Deputy leads the Eagles in the one-meter event constantly improving meet by meet, recording a pool and school record last meet with a monstrous score (304.20 pts). The sophomore also shinned on the big stage at the A3 Performance Invitational with a third-place podium finish. He currently sits at third in the Summit League three-meter diving standings with some steep competition.
Pollock leads the way in the one-meter event, smashing the school record against Valparaiso University at the beginning of the season (273.58 pts). The Boonville native accomplished a career goal with a podium third-place finish at the A3 Performance Invite. Blake earned a personal best this season in the one-meter (234.08 pts) and the three-meter (216.60 pts). Herbst top score was in the three-meter against UIC (216.38 pts).
USI Women Diving
The women's squad features freshman
Gabbie Meier, Bunnell, and Uttke. USI is led by the Evansville native Bunnell, who currently owns both school records as a freshman. She placed third in the one-meter event (228.35 pts) at the A3 Performance Invitational. The consistent improvement continued with school records in the three-meter (241.40 pts) last meet and the one-meter (240.68 pts).
Fellow freshman, Meier, has turned in strong performances with a personal best in the three-meter (232.58 pts) last meet against Eastern Illinois University. She followed that performance with a personal best in the one-meter (221.93 pts), heating up at the right time of the year.
Uttke is starting to regain form from 2023-24, where she holds her personal bests. The sophomore is coming off a strong meet against EIU last time out, notching her best three-meter score of the year (217.43 pts).
