Sam Smith were named to the Summit League Academic All-League on Wednesday afternoon, voted on by the league's coaches and sports information directors.
The list criteria included the player to possess at least a 3.3 cumulative career grade-point average. The athlete also must be a sophomore academically or above. The combination of academic and athletic achievements was evaluated in selecting 15 athletes.
Pollock, a finance major, earned Academic All-League honors for the third straight season. This year, the senior secured an NCAA Zone qualifying spot with a school-record score of 309.83 in the dual meet against Evansville. At the Summit League Championships, Pollock placed fourth in the one-meter event, posting a 264.55 in the prelims and improving to 304.70 in the finals.
Smith, an accounting and professional services major, has made consecutive Academic All-League teams, making it both years he was eligible. The junior captured the program's first Summit League championship in the 200 butterfly, setting a program record with a time of 1:47.77. Smith also nabbed the university record in the 100 butterfly, marking a time of 48.59.
