USI Athletic Training Mission Statement
University of Southern Indiana Athletic Training serves the USI Department of Athletics through quality medical care performed by educated certified athletic trainers, and a selection of specialized medical professionals in the Evansville area. These professionals include, but are not limited to, sports orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, general medicine, chiropractors, pharmacists and emergency medical services to provide the highest quality health care network possible. USI Athletic Training strives to provide the safest possible conditions to excel on and off the field through an emphasis on educating student-athletes and coaches in areas of injury prevention, and offering comprehensive accessibility to all student-athletes at USI.
USI Athletic Training strives to uphold the following philosophies:
1. To ensure that each student-athlete's medical welfare remains the highest professional priority, regardless of current status of competition or personal team standing, through quality medical care, proper decision-making, and providing the safest environment possible for competition.
2. To deliver the most effective medical care possible in the realm of our extensive education and knowledge, and utilize our network of quality medical professionals in such cases that our credentials restrict us in our practice.
3. To focus on providing a professional environment, assuring that each member of the USI Athletic Training and Sports Medicine staff maintains a pleasant, caring, and professional attitude consistent with the National Athletic Trainers Association Code of Professional Practice.
4. To be familiar with, and adhere to, the guidelines, laws and by-laws, and proposals set forth by the State of Indiana, the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA), the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC), The Summit League (SL) and the Horizon League (HL).
