USI Tennis hires Parson as new assistant coach

Parson joins USI Tennis staff

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - University of Southern Indiana Men's and Women's Tennis has officially announced the hiring of Chantz Parson '17 as the assistant coach.
 
"I'm extremely excited about the hiring of Chantz Parsons," said head coach Chris Crawford. "He has numerous years of coaching and teaching experience in tennis. He has a lot of energy, passion, and work ethic. I look forward to working with him and having him work with our student athletes here at USI."
 
Parson joins USI after a two-year stint at Evansville Reitz Memorial High School as the head coach of the girl's tennis team. During his time with the Tigers, he coached Memorial to 45-5 combined overall record that included the 2021 state individual champion.
 
Parson also coached at Evansville Central High School, guiding the Bears to their first sectional title in 20 years.
 
A 2017 USI graduate with a bachelor's degree in health services, Parson continued his education at the University of Evansville where he transitioned into education. Parson taught at McGary Middle School and Harwood Career Prep High School from 2018-2022.
 
The native of Otwell, Indiana, has worked as the tennis director of the Tri-State Area Tennis Association since 2021. He also is a tennis professional at the Tri-State Athletic Club in Evansville.
