Chantz Parson

Chantz Parson ’17 returned to the Screaming Eagles as an assistant coach in 2023 after spending the past four years coaching at Evansville Central High School and Evansville Reitz Memorial High School.
 
Parson assists Chris Crawford in all aspects of the USI men’s and women’s tennis programs.

In 2023-24, Parson helped guide the women's team to a massive seven-win regular season improvement, going 11-11 overall and 4-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference. Parson was significant help in guiding the women to achieve the programs first NCAA Division I Conference tournament win, beating Eastern Illinois University. The women also earned two All-OVC second team conference honors and the OVC Freshman of the Year. The men's team finished 5-14 overall and 0-5 in Horizon league play. 
 
Prior to joining the coaching staff in 2023, Parson spent two years as head girls’ tennis coach at Evansville Reitz Memorial High School, where he coached the Tigers to a 45-5 overall record in the two seasons that included the 2021 state individual champion.
 
Before leading Memorial, Parson coached at Evansville Central High School, and guided the Bears to their first sectional title in 20 years.
 
Parson earned a bachelor’s degree in health sciences from USI in 2017 and continued at the University of Evansville transitioning into secondary education. He taught at McGary Middle School and Harwood Career Prep High School from 2018-2022.
 
The native of Otwell, Indiana, has worked as the director of the Tri-State Area Tennis Association since 2021. He’s also a tennis professional at the Tri-State Athletic Club in Evansville. Parson currently resides in Newburgh, Indiana.
