LOCKPORT, Ill.—The No. 36 University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team notched a big NCAA II Midwest Region victory over No. 41 Ferris State University Saturday despite not having senior Joseph' Boesing in the lineup due to injury.
USI (10-5), which is ranked seventh in the latest NCAA II Midwest Region poll, swept doubles play to take a 3-0 lead over Ferris State (12-7), which is ranked fourth in the latest regional poll.

Juan Quiroz teamed up for an 8-1 win at number one doubles, while sophomores
Ben Boesing and
Robert Nieters combined for an 8-4 win at number two doubles.

Nathan Lattimer rounded out USI's sweep of doubles play with a 9-8 (7-4) win at number three.
Gimenez and Lattimer each posted three-set wins at number one and six singles, respectively, while Quiroz, Boesing, and Flores had straight-set triumphs at number two, three, and four singles, respectively, to clinch the victory for the Screaming Eagles.
USI closes Great Lakes Valley Conference play Sunday at 10 a.m. when it visits Lewis University. The Flyers, who are ranked eighth in the latest NCAA II Midwest Region poll, are 9-2 overall and 2-0 in the GLVC after defeating Ferris State, 6-3, Friday.
