EVANSVILLE, Ind.- University of Southern Indiana Men's Tennis seniors
Mathys Bove and
Axel Sabourin, and sophomore
Jy Hibbert were named to the College Sport Communicators Academic All-District on Tuesday.
To earn this selection, all three athletes met the requirements of at least sophomore standing, a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher, and competing in 70% of the season's matches.
Bove, a sport management major, is a first-time winner of the award. The senior was second on the team for his 8-7 singles record, playing in the three slot, and recorded a 4-3 Horizon League record. With partners
Adam Koon and Sabourin, Bove led the team with his 7-9 doubles record. The senior was named a Horizon League Doubles Player of the Week on April 8
th with partner Sabourin.
Sabourin, a business administration major, has been named to the CSC Academic All-District list three consecutive times. The senior played in all 19 matches for the Eagles this season as the No. 1 singles player, finishing with a 3-16 record. Sabourin went 5-11 in doubles matches, including a 2-4 Horizon League record that helped him win a Doubles Player of the Week award with Bove.
Hibbert, an exercise science major, is named to the Academic All-District list the first year he is eligible. The sophomore led the team with a 9-8 singles record, including a 4-2 winning conference record. Hibbert was awarded the Horizon League Herb Foster Sportsmanship Award in the conference's postseason awards, marking the second Eagle in program history to win the award.
