Eagles soar over Flyers

ROMEOVILLE, Ill.  – The University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team soared over the Lewis University Flyers with a 7-2 win Sunday morning in Romeoville, Illinois. USI rises to 11-5 overall and 4-1 in the GLVC, while Lewis falls to 9-3, 2-1 GLVC.
 
The Screaming Eagles took control early by sweeping the three doubles matches. Senior Joseph Boesing and sophomore Ben Boesing posted an 8-6 win at number one doubles, while junior Diego Gimenez and sophomore Juan Quiroz recorded an 8-4 win at number two doubles. Sophomores Robert Nieters and Rodrigo Flores# rounded out the doubles sweep with a 9-7 win at number three.
 
USI clinched the victory by taking four of the six singles matches. Quiroz, Joseph Boesing, and  Nieters won in straight sets at number two, three, and six singles, while Flores won at number five in a tie-breaker.
 
The Eagles will complete the regular season schedule April 16 when they travel to Greencastle, Indiana, to play Olivet Nazarene University and DePauw University. USI also has an exhibition match at Vincennes University scheduled for 3 p.m. on April 13.
