LOCKPORT, Ill.- The University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team continued their winning ways this spring by defeating Grand Valley State University, 8-1, Friday night in Lockport, IL.
USI (3-1) swept all three doubles matches in quick fashion, dropping only a combined seven points. USI sealed the win over GVSU (1-1) with wins at numbers one through five singles.
Junior Diego Gimenez led the Eagles with a straight set victory at number one singles, while pairing with senior Joseph Boesing for the 8-2 win at number one doubles. Joseph Boesing completed the straight set victory at number four singles as well.
Sophomore Juan Quiroz also had a strong match, as he posted a straight set victory at number three singles and paired with classmate Ben Boesing to make quick work of their competition at number two doubles, 8-3. Ben Boesing also handily won his match at number five singles in straight sets.
The Screaming Eagles take a short break before returning to action March 6 when they take on Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina for a 1 p.m. contest.
