MARION, Ill.—The No. 19 University of Southern Indiana women's golf team shot a final round 337 Sunday and finished fourth at the GLVC Championship at the Kokopelli Golf Course.
USI finished the two-day tournament with a 684 after shooting 347 in Saturday's first round.
Sophomore
Jess Dooley (Goshen, Indiana) led the Screaming Eagles as she finished in a tie for third with a two-day score of 163, just three-strokes back of Northern Kentucky University's Sofie Rasmussen. Dooley shot an 83 on Sunday after shooting an eight-over-par 80 on Saturday.
Along with junior
Tara Wiley (Oxford, Indiana), Dooley was named to the All-GLVC team after posting one of the top five averages throughout the regular season. It marks the second straight season that Dooley and Wiley have earned All-GLVC honors.
Wiley finished the GLVC Tournament in 20th place after shooting a team-best 79 on Sunday to overcome a rough opening round that saw her shoot 95.
The Eagles also were aided by sophomore
Kimberly Gottwald (Ft. Wayne, Indiana), who finished in a tie for 10th with a 167 (80, 87).
As a team, the Eagles were 24 strokes off Northern Kentucky's winning score (660). The University of Indianapolis finished second with a 670, while Drury University finished four strokes ahead of the Eagles in third place.
The Eagles will await word on whether they have qualified for the NCAA II Mid-East Regional Tournament, which takes eight teams and eight individuals and is scheduled for May 5-7 in Allendale, Michigan. An announcement should come sometime Monday.
