LOCKPORT, Ill.—Sophomore Jess Dooley (Goshen, Indiana) shot a two-under-par 70 Monday to close out the Lewis Aviator Classic and take home first place while leading the No. 19 University of Southern Indiana women's golf team to a second-place finish in the two-day event.
For the tournament, Dooley finished with a one-over-par 145 (a USI 36-hole record) after shooting 75 to open the tournament Sunday. She becomes the second USI women's golfer this season to win a tournament after teammate
Tara Wiley (Oxford, Indiana) won the Ray Wright/Screaming Eagles Golf Classic in the fall.
Wiley finished fourth in this tournament after shooting 76 on Sunday and 78 Monday.
As a team, the Screaming Eagles shot 315 on both days to finish with a 630, five strokes back of first-place Northern Kentucky University.
USI returns to action Saturday and Sunday when it takes part in the GLVC Championships in Marion, Illinois.
