Tara Wiley (Oxford, Indiana) shot a two-round, seven-over-par 151 to place second and lead the No. 18 University of Southern Indiana women's golf team to a sixth-place finish this weekend at the Northern Kentucky University Invitational. The tournament field featured 131 players from 21 teams, seven of which were ranked in the top 20 of the NGCA Division II Top 25 poll.
Wiley opened the two-day tournament with a three-over 75 Saturday, then shot a 76 to close the tournament Sunday. As a team, the Screaming Eagles shot a 328 in the first round and a closing-round 315.
Sophomore
Jess Dooley (Goshen, Indiana) finished in a tie for 11th after shooting an 80 Saturday and a 75 Sunday, while fellow classmate
Kim Gottwald (Ft. Wayne, Indiana), who finished in a tie for 31st, aided the Eagles' efforts by shooting an 84 Saturday and a 78 Sunday.
The Eagles return to action April 13-14 when they compete in the Ball State Cardinal Classic in Muncie, Indiana. USI will compete in the Lewis Aviator Classic April 18-19 before competing in the GLVC Championships in Marion, Illinois, April 26-27.
