Eagles win Illinois Wesleyan Fall Classic

Claim sixth-ever team title

BLOOMINGTON, Ill—The University of Southern Indiana women's golf team finished first out of 21 teams at the Illinois Wesleyan University Fall Classic, marking the sixth time in the program's history that the Screaming Eagles have taken home a team championship.

USI shot a two-round 619, six strokes off the school-record, after firing a closing-round 309 on Sunday. The Eagles finished 19 strokes ahead of second-place Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.


The Eagles had three players finish in the top five, with sophomore Jessica Dooley (Goshen, Indiana) and junior Tara Wiley (Oxford, Indiana) leading the team with finishes of third and fourth, respectively. Dooley shot a five-over-par 149 after firing an open-round 73 Saturday, while Wiley finished with a two-round 153 after shooting 74 Sunday.

Sophomore Kimberly Gottwald (Ft. Wayne, Indiana) finished in a tie for fifth after posting rounds of 76 and 78.

USI returns to action next Sunday and Monday when it hosts the Ray Wright/Screaming Eagles' Golf Classic at Cambridge Golf Course.
