EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team defeated Northern Kentucky University, 7-2, in a non-conference match Monday at the USI Tennis Courts.
USI (7-5) went 2-1 in doubles action before winning four of the five singles matches that were played.

Audra Bartelt (Jasper, Indiana) and freshman
Katie Clagg(Terre Haute, Indiana) led the Screaming Eagles with a pair of victories. The two teamed up for an 8-2 decision in number two doubles before recording three-set victories in number two and three singles. Bartelt rallied from a one-set deficit to defeat NKU's Emily Okerson, 2-6, 6-0, 6-3 while Clagg won her match with a superset tie-breaker in the third set over NKU's Michelle Schirmann.
Freshmen
Gretchen Cantwell (Vincennes, Indiana) and
Kyla Dorsett (Columbus, Indiana) posted straight-set victories in number four and five singles, respectively, while the Eagles picked up default wins at number three doubles and six singles.
The Eagles return to action Wednesday when they travel to Terre Haute, Indiana, to take on the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. The match is slated to begin at 4 p.m. (CDT).
