EDWARDSVILLE, Ill.—The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team defeated Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Friday afternoon to improve to 6-2 overall and 6-2 in the GLVC.
The Screaming Eagles coasted to victories in all three singles matches before winning all six singles contests in straight sets.
Freshman Sara Wilhoite (Connersville, Indiana) and junior Ashley Rees (Vincennes, Indiana) recorded victories at number one and number two singles, respectively, while freshman Reilly Ackerman (Allendale, Illinois) and sophomore Audra Bartelt (Jasper, Indiana) won at number at number three and number four singles, respectively.
Junior Cassy Froderman (Brazil, Indiana) had the toughest challenge of the afternoon as she defeated SIUE's Celia Montes 7-5, 7-6 (5) at number five singles. Freshman Maggie Coffman(Sellersburg, Indiana) defeated Katherine Ferry 6-0, 6-0.
The Eagles will play the University of Missouri-St. Louis in St. Louis at 9 a.m. before heading to Quincy, Illinois, to take on Quincy University at 3 p.m.
