Abrielle Richard came within an eyelash of a school record and junior
Ellie Hall raced to another PR in the 5,000 meters as University of Southern Indiana Women's Track & Field wrapped up one of its strongest performances of the season at the Music City Challenge Friday and Saturday.
Richard was less than a second away from of a school-record in the 800 meters as she finished 14th out of 58 runners with a time of two minutes, 11.97 seconds. Her time was just .78 seconds away from
Audrey Comastri's program standard of 2:11.19, which she set at the 2025 Bryan Clay Invitational, and currently ranks sixth in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Hall raced to a ninth-place showing in the 5,000 meters, posting her second PR in the event this spring with her time of 16:34.09. Her mark gives her a 21-second cushion for first in the OVC and ranks 26th in the NCAA I Great Lakes Region this season.
The Screaming Eagles also got a strong performance out of sophomore
Addison Applegate in the 1,500 meters on Friday. Applegate was 12th out of 52 runners with a personal-best time of 4:32.00, which ranks second in the OVC this year and fifth all-time at USI.
Sophomore
Amber Fusner also made a push inside the top six of the OVC rankings in the 3,000-meter steeplechase Friday. Fusner shattered her PR in the event as she was 16th with a time of 11:30.60.
USI is scheduled to compete at the Billy Hayes Invitational May 8 in Bloomington, Indiana. The OVC Outdoor Championships are May 14-16 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
