EVANSVILLE, Ind. - University of Southern Indiana Men's Tennis had two athletes named to the College Sports Communicators NCAA Division I Academic All-District Team on Tuesday.
Senior
Quinten Gillespie and junior
Axel Sabourin met the criteria for the CSC All-District Award: being a sophomore academically or higher, excelling beyond a 3.5 cumulative grade point average, and competing in 70% of total matches.
Gillespie, a mathematics major, was a four-year player for the Screaming Eagles, excelling on and off the court. The senior celebrates his second CSC Academic All-District honor. He had previously earned spots on the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll in 2024 and the Ohio Valley Conference Honor Roll in 2023, while also being named Academic All-GLVC in 2023.
Sabourin, a business administration major, dazzled in and out of the classroom, earning his second straight CSC All-District laurel. In April, he earned a spot on the Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week. He finished the season with a team-best 6-5 doubles record. Sabourin secured two conference wins, helping Southern Indiana reach its first postseason appearance since transitioning to Division I.
