CHARLESTON, Ill.—Freshman
Layden Wagoner clocked a first-place finish in the 1,500 meters to lead University of Southern Indiana Men's Track & Field at the Eastern Illinois University Big Blue Classic Saturday.
Wagoner finished the rain-soaked race in three minutes, 56.38 seconds to top 35 other competitors and pick up his first victory of his collegiate career.
The Screaming Eagles had three of the top five finishers in the 1,500 meters, including junior
Brady Terry and sophomore
Alex Nolan. Terry was second in the event with a time of 3:56.76, while Nolan crossed the finish line in 3:58.90 to place fifth.
USI competed in just the 800 meters and 1,500 meters during the two-day meet. Junior
Isaac Stanford led the Eagles in the 800 meters with a third-place finish and a time of 1:55.19.
The Eagles return to action next Saturday when they compete at the Cougar Classic in Edwardsville, Illinois.
