EVANSVILLE, Ind.- University of Southern Indiana Men's Swimming and Diving team traveled to the Deaconess Aquatic Center for the Evansville Regional Sports Commission Diving Invitational on Tuesday and Wednesday, where senior
Lane Pollock won the 1-meter competition and broke the school record in both events.
To open day one of the competition, the men's team took on the three-meter dive event, where
Nathan Deputy and Pollock took the second and third spots in the preliminary round. Also competing in the meet were junior
George Blake and sophomore
Stokes Knight, who came in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
In the three-meter finals, Pollock scored 312.90 points to break a school record previously set by teammate Deputy last season. The career-high score marks the first time Pollock has scored above 300 points. The senior placed second behind University of Evansville's Levi McKinney.
Behind Pollock, Deputy finished third with a score of 248.70, Blake was in fourth with a 212.65, and Knight in fifth with a 200.55.
On day two, Pollock continued his performance by breaking the school record for the one-meter dive, previously set by himself at the House of Champions meet in November. He added two points onto the record, scoring a 290.60 in the preliminary round of the one meter event. He went on to the finals to score a 287.30 to win the event.
Behind Pollock was UE's McKinney, followed by Deputy (244.25), Blake (234.55), and Knight (186.60). Blake's score marked a career high for the junior.
The Eagles are back in action January 10 with a home meet against the University of Illinois Chicago at the USI Aquatic Center. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
