Eagles gear up for battle with Knights

EVANSVILLE, Ind.- University of Southern Indiana Swimming and Diving faces off against Bellarmine University Saturday afternoon in Louisville, Kentucky. The women's team will also be matching up with in-state foe Butler University at the event.
 
Men
Last time out, the men picked up their first victory of the season against the University of Evansville, 172-126.
 
Following the team's decisive victory, the Summit League awarded senior Lane Pollock Kwik Star Men's Peak Diver of the Week and freshman Jerrin Dale the Kwik Star Men's Swimmer of the Week. This marks the first time in program history that the men have swept the weekly honors.
 
The Screaming Eagles shattered two school records against the Aces. First, Dale broke the 100 breast record with a time of 56.50 in his podium-topping performance. Then Sophomore Stokes Knight broke the 50 free school record in the opening leg of the 200 free relay race, with a time of 20.59.
 
Junior Sam Smith earned first place in the 1000 free (10:03.07) and in the 200 fly (1:52.14), while sophomore Jude Winnington also took first in the 200 individual medley, clocking a 1:54.20 time.
 
USI swept on the boards, with Pollock finishing atop the leaderboard in the one-meter competition with 254.70 points, while junior Nathan Deputy grabbed first in the three-meter with 285.90 points.
 
Women
Last Saturday, the women picked up their second victory of the year against Evansville, 161-134, but fell to Indiana State University, 221-79.
 
The Eagles tallied two first-place finishes, with sophomore Emma Gabhart recording a 2:08.59 in the 200 Individual Medley, and freshman Hannah Pryor completing the 100 backstroke in 58.99.
 
The divers excelled once again. Junior Maranda Uttke amazed in the one-meter dive, earning a 225.40 score in a second-place finish, while sophomore Gabbie Meier finished third in both the one (213.20) and three-meter (229.85) dives.
