Swim and Dive faces three in-state foes on Saturday

EVANSVILLE, Ind.- University of Southern Indiana Swimming and Diving travels to Indianapolis to take on Indiana University Indianapolis, the University of Evansville, and Valparaiso University Saturday at the IU Natatorium. 
 
The Screaming Eagles faced off against all three foes last season. The Men went 2-2 with wins over Evansville and Valparaiso, and losses to Evansville and IU Indy. The Women's team played to a 3-1 record, with two wins against Evansville and a win over Valparaiso, and a loss to IU Indy.
 
Men's
The men's squad comes off a sixth-place finish at the Indiana Intercollegiate on October 11. At the event, the team scored a total of 107 points, finishing six points higher than Evansville.
 
USI's highest finish of the meet was a fourth-place finish in the 200 Mendley Relay (1:31.75). The team consisted of freshman Jarrett Watkins, senior Caleb Davis, junior Sam Smith, and sophomore Stokes Knight.
 
The divers delivered notable results, with junior Nathan Deputy achieving the top one-meter dive score for USI at 212.35 to secure 16th and add one point to the team total. Senior Lane Pollock finished ninth in the three-meter event with 277.20 points, adding nine points.
 
Women's
Last time out, the women placed sixth at the Indiana Intercollegiate. The team tallied 107 points, 13 behind fifth-place Valparaiso and eight ahead of seventh-place Evansville.
 
The USI divers excelled, claiming two top-ten spots in the one-meter dive. Sophomore Anna Bunnell placed sixth with 233.25 points, and junior Maranda Uttke finished tenth with 208.30. Bunnell impressed again in the three-meter, securing fourth at 231.70.
 
In the pool, USI swimmers achieved several top-20 finishes. Freshman Hannah Pryor posted a 59.25 in the 100 breaststroke. She also earned a top-20 finish with a 59.25 in the 100 backstroke.
 
Junior Hayden Shurtz nabbed the women's best finish, taking 13th place with a time of 106.82 in the 100 Breaststroke.
