WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.- University of Southern Indiana Men's Swimming and Diving finished sixth out of ten teams at the Dan Ross Indiana Intercollegiate to open the 2025-26 season.
The Screaming Eagles finished with a team score of 107 points, scoring six more points than seventh-place University of Evansville.
USI's highest finish on the leader board came from the 200 Medley Relay team (1:31.75), finishing fourth. The relay team included freshman
Jarrett Watkins at the start, senior
Caleb Davis, junior
Sam Smith, and sophomore
Stokes Knight to finish.
The second-highest finishes came from the 500 and 200 freestyle relay (3:43.79 and 1:26.07), where both teams finished seventh, earning a combined 48 points for the team.
Senior
Lane Pollock earned a ninth-place finish in the three-meter diving event, with a final score of 277.20 points, adding nine points to the team's score. Junior
Nathan Deputy took the highest score for USI in the one-meter diving event, with a score of 212.35, placing 16th and adding one point to the team score.
Smith earned two top-20 finishes, first in the 50 freestyle (21.69) after also competing as part of the seventh-place 200 freestyle relay team.
Sophomore
Jude Winnington finished in the top-20 in three of his races, he was a part of the seventh-place 200 freestyle relay team, and the second 200 medley team for USI that finished 12
th. Individually, he raced in the 100 IM (53.13) and placed 13
th out of 52 swimmers.
Davis earned the most top-20 finishes after his part in the 200 medley relay fourth-place finish. Individually, he came in 20
th in the 50 freestyle (21.87), then 15
th in the 100 breaststroke.
The Eagles return to the pool on October 18 for a four-team versus match in Indianapolis, Indiana. USI will be facing off against Indiana University Indianapolis, the University of Evansville, and Valparaiso University at the IU Natatorium on the campus of IU Indy.
