NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Sophomore
Alex Nolan and junior
Isaac Stanford posted top-five finishes to lead University of Southern Indiana Men's Track & Field in its 2024-25 indoor opener Saturday at the Vanderbilt University Commodore Challenge.
Nolan finished fourth out of 27 competitors in the 3,000 meters with a time of eight minutes, 26.03 seconds, while Stanford was fifth out of 30 runners in the mile with a time of 4:13.51.
The Screaming Eagles had six student-athletes competing in the mile, with junior
Brady Terry finishing ninth with a time of 4:14.97 and sophomore
Cole Hess placing 11th with a time of 4:16.64.
Sophomore
Eli Mojonnier as well as freshmen
Kyle Kern and
Griffen Wheeler were 21st, 22nd and 23rd, respectively, in the mile.
Freshman
Layden Wagoner and junior
Dylan Bland were 12th and 21st, respectively, in the 3,000 meters to round out the Eagles' participation on the day.
USI competes in two meets next weekend. The Eagles are sending a small group to Bloomington, Indiana, to race the Indiana Invitational Friday and Saturday, while the rest of the team will compete at the Bellarmine Open in Louisville, Kentucky, Friday.
