AZUSA, Calif.—University of Southern Indiana Men's and Women's Track & Field racked up 11 personal-records and a pair of freshman records as the Screaming Eagles wrapped up competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational Saturday night.
Freshman
Kraedyn Young set all-time USI rookie marks in both the 1,500 and 5,000 meters on successive nights. He raced to a time of 14 minutes, 11.08 seconds in the 5,000 meters on Friday before concluding the weekend with a mark of 3:47.32 in the 1,500 meters late Saturday night.
Senior
Dominick Beine and junior
Ellie Hall began the week with personal-best times in the 10,000 meters Thursday night. Beine finished second in the men's Open B competition with a time of 29:59.50, while Hall was 23rd in the women's Elite competition with a time of 34:40.11.
Hall's time clocks in at No. 3 all-time in USI's women's record book and No. 1 in the OVC, while Beine took over the top spot in the OVC men's 10,000 meters with his effort.
The Screaming Eagles had a strong performance in the men's 800 meters Friday morning as junior
Cole Hess and sophomore
Griffen Wheeler each made ascensions in USI's record book.
Hess's career-best time of 1:50.73 ranks second all-time at USI, while Wheeler's personal-record time of 1:51.81 is fourth all-time at USI.
In addition to Young, junior
Alex Nolan and sophomore
Layden Wagoner rounded out the Screaming Eagles' PRs on Friday with strong efforts in the 5,000 meters. Nolan's time of 14:05.06 ranks eighth all-time at USI and first in the OVC this season, while Young and Wagoner (14:26.69) are second and third, respectively, in the OVC with their performances on Friday.
USI wrapped up its weekend with four PRs in the 1,500 meters on Saturday. Wagoner, freshman
Carson Brown and Hess each joined Young in carding personal-best times in the event. Wagoner finished his raced in 3:51.00, while Brown and Young clocked in with respective times of 3:53.47 and 3:54.20.
Young's mark ranks third all-time at USI and second in the OVC, while Wagoner moved into the top five in the OVC with his performance.
The Screaming Eagles return to action April 24-25 when they compete at the Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Invitational in Louisville, Kentucky.
