Women's Golf earn 13th at The Velvet

PADUCAH, Ky.- University of Southern Indiana Women's Golf finished 13th at The Velvet hosted by Murray State University with a team score of 992 (326-334-332).
 
Round 1
USI finished the first round in a tie for 11th place with Indian Hills Community College shooting 326.
 
Freshman Fernanda Vera led the Eagles in round one shooting a 79 (+7). Fellow freshmen Brianna Kirsch and Jade Blakeley followed at 81 (+9).
 
Round 2
Vera again topped USI's scorecard shooting an 80 (+8) on the round. Kirsch was the only Eagle to match   their first-round performance shooting an 81 (+9).
 
USI fell behind on the leader board dropping two spots to 13th after shooting 334, four strokes ahead of 14th place Northern Kentucky University.
 
Round 3
Blakeley shot a personal best 79 (+7) in the final round, launching her to the top of USI's scorecard. She finished in 36th place for the tournament at 242 strokes overall.
 
USI held their 13th-place spot shooting 332 in the final round barely edging out NKU by one stroke.
 
WHAT'S NEXT FOR THE EAGLES
USI will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 30-Oct. 1) at the Butler Fall Invitational in Indianapolis, Indiana. This will be the Eagles' second appearance in this event following a 16th-place finish last fall.
