INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.- University of Southern Indiana Men's Swimming and Diving opened their season with a split Saturday afternoon at Indiana University Indianapolis against the Jaguars and Northern Kentucky University.
The Screaming Eagles earned the gritty victory over Northern Kentucky University, 131-98, before losing to the host IU Indy 189-53.
USI had three freshmen cement themselves in the record books in their first collegiate meet. Freshman
Jude Winnington placed third in the 200 individual medley (1:56.88), checking in at third all-time in the USI record books.
Freshman
Justin Knauf started his collegiate career earning a top-three finish in the 100 butterfly (53.06). Freshman
Luke Rich finished in second place in the 100 breaststroke (59.72) and fourth place in the USI record book.
The Eagles earned two top-three finishes in the three-meter diving event as sophomore
Nathan Deputy (203.95) took second and sophomore
George Blake (202.28 ) placed third.
