TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Men's Track & Field tallied 59 points at the ISU Open Saturday afternoon to earn a second-place team finish. The Screaming Eagles had nine top-five performers with 11 new personal bests.
Setting the pace for USI was sophomore
Brady Terry (Philpot, Kentucky) who nabbed second place in the 800 meters with a time of one minute, 57.68 seconds. Close behind was senior
Tyler Garrett (Martinsville, Indiana) who placed fourth with a 1:59.13 mark. Sophomore
Rick Pflanz (Huntingburg, Indiana) hung around to sport a fifth-place finish with a time of 1:59.34.
In the mile, junior
Ethan Goddard (Avon, Indiana) and sophomore
Joshua Myers (Greensburg, Indiana) went third and fourth, respectively. Goddard crossed the line in 4:26.74 before Myers earned a 4:28.52 mark. Also making good time was freshman
Joseph Russler (Evansville, Indiana) who secured third in the 3,000 meters with a personal-best time of 9:17.56.
Junior
Kyle Crone (Maryville, Indiana) had a great day for the Eagles, securing two top-five finishes. Crone had a jump of six feet, two inches in the high jump to nab third place. In the pit, Crone had a third-place performance with a leap of 43' 4.50" in the triple jump. Sophomore
James Butler (Evansville, Indiana) also scored points for USI with a 20' 1.50" mark in the long jump to place fifth.
