EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team started the spring portion of the 2017-18 campaign with a 6-0 decision over Brescia University at the Evansville Tennis Center. 
 
The Screaming Eagles (3-0) stared the sweep by taking both of the doubles matches, 8-1. Freshman Lauryn Thompson (Evansville, Indiana) and senior 
Jennifer Mizikar (Batavia, Illinois) were the first to finish with a win at number two doubles, while senior 
Kelsey Shipman (Olney, Illinois) and sophomore Lauren Hambrock (Terre Haute, Indiana) secured the second doubles victory at number. USI took three doubles by default.
USI completed the shutout with four-straight wins in singles. Sophomore Alex Jamison (Floyd Knobs, Indiana) kicked off doubles with a straight-set win at number four singles, 6-0 and 6-0, before freshman Anna McDonald (Tallahassee, Florida) clinched the match with a victory at number three singles, 6-0 and 6-1. Hambrock and Shipman rounded out the singles victories with straight set wins at number one and two, respectively. 
The Eagles return to action February 16 when they host William Jewell College at the Evansville Tennis Center.
