EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team took home their second victory of the 2017 fall campaign with a 5-4 decision over Lindenwood University at the USI Tennis Courts.
USI (2-0) got the action started in the singles competition where the Eagles took away two victories from the Lions (0-1) in three and four singles, respectively. Freshman
Anna McDonald (Tallahassee, Florida) swept her match in two-straight sets 6-3, 6-0 while sophomore
Alex Jamison (Floyd Knobs, Indiana) took home the win, 6-1, 6-1 in both sets as well.
The Eagles stole the doubles competition 3-0 starting off with the combo of both McDonald and Jamison winning their match 8-1. Following suit was freshman
Lauryn Thompson (Evansville, Indiana) and senior
Jennifer Mizikar (Batavia, Illinois) winning in 8-2. Finally, the duo of senior
Kelsey Shipman (Olney, Illinois) and sophomore
Lauren Hambrock (Terre Haute, Indiana) secured the win for USI in 8-4.
The Broomstick Classic awaits the Eagles as their next event on Thursday October 26 at 6 p.m. at the USI Tennis Courts.
