ROMEOVILLE, Ill.- The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team was defeated by Drury University, 5-0, Friday afternoon in in the opening round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament. The Eagles finish the year with a record of 7-13 in dual matches.
The Screaming Eagles, who were shorthanded with only five players, dropped two matches by forfeit at three doubles and six singles.
In doubles competition, the top USI duo of junior
Kymberly Brannon (Louisville, Kentucky) sophomore
Kelsey Shipman (Olney, Illinois) fell at number one, 8-1. Sophomore
Jennifer Mizikar (Batavia, Illinois) and senior
Elizabeth Wilm (Evansville, Illinois) dropped their match, 8-3, at number two.
Number five was the only singles match to be completed before the Panthers sealed a victory. In the match, sophomore
Haley Jones (Fort Branch, Indiana) fell 6-1, 6-1.
