INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.-- The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team was defeated by the University of Indianapolis, 9-0, Saturday afternoon at Venter Grove High School in Greenwood, Indiana. The Screaming Eagles finish the regular season with a 7-12 record in dual matches along with 3-3 mark in conference play.
After USI was defeated in all three doubles matches, sophomore
Haley Jones (Fort Branch, Indiana) gave her Indy opponent a challenge at number-six singles. Jones narrowly gave up the first set, 7-5 before being swept in the second 6-0.
With the regular season coming to an end, the Eagles now look towards the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament. USI secured a spot in the tournament with their two wins last weekend, but with two losses this weekend, the Eagles earn the number-four seed in the GLVC East Division. Unofficially, USI will play the top seed in the West Division, Drury University in the first round of the tournament in Romeoville, Illinois.
