EVANSVILLE, Ind.- The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis program begin conference play this weekend. The Screaming Eagles will welcome the University of Illinois Springfield to Evansville for an afternoon match up at the USI Tennis Courts on campus at 11 a.m.
The Eagles in 2015-16The Eagles are 4-8 on the year as they move past the bulk of their non-conference schedule. After going 1-1 in the fall and competing in the ITA Regional Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana, USI has gone 3-7 in spring matches.
Last WeekThe Eagles defeated Kentucky Wesleyan College, 9-0 in the spring home opener last Wednesday at the USI Tennis Courts. All six eagles picked up two wins in the contest, which is the third time that has happened this year.
UIS in 2015-16The Prairie Stars of the University of Illinois Springfield are 6-8 on the year but compete in two more matches this week before making their trip to Evansville. UIS is currently on a two-match win streak.
Last yearLast season, in Springfield, USI defeated the Prairie Stars by a score of 8-1. Five of the six players that competed in last year's match for the Eagles return to this year's team.
The match gets underway at 11 a.m. at the USI Tennis courts on Saturday.
