BOX SCORE: USI 7, Georgetown 2 GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team improved to 2-0 with a 7-2 road victory over Georgetown College Saturday afternoon in Georgetown, Kentucky.
The Screaming Eagles took control of its second dual match of the season by posting wins at number one and three doubles. Junior
Elizabeth Wilm (Evansville, Indiana) and freshman
Ashlee Hasson (Columbus, Illinois) put USI on the scoreboard with an 8-4 win at number one doubles, while sophomore
Brenna Wu (Evansville, Indiana) and f
reshman Kelsey Shipman (Olney, Illinois) clinched the doubles portion of the match, 8-5, at number three.
USI wrapped the up the match by winning five of the six singles matches. Hasson, Wilm, Wu, and sophomore
Kymberly Brannon (Louisville, Kentucky) led the way with tie-breaker wins at number one, two, three, and six. Shipman posted USI's only straight-set win at number five singles.
The Eagles continue their three-match road swing to finish fall action Sunday at 11 a.m. (CDT) when they visit Indiana University Southeast in New Albany, Indiana. USI concludes fall action October 8 when it travels to Brescia University for a 4 p.m. match.
