Lingenfelter wins Midwest Shootout as Eagles tie for first

WATERLOO, Ill. – The University of Southern Indiana women's golf team finished in a tie for first at the Midwest Shootout held at Annbriar Golf Course in Waterloo, Illinois, and hosted by Maryville University. 
 
USI finished the two-day tournament with a 635 (315-320), finishing in a tie for first with Rockhurst University, but losing the tiebreaker which was the 36-hole score of the team's number five golfer. The Screaming Eagles held a two stroke lead after the first day, but a second day 320 put the Eagles in a tie for first with Rockhurst.
 
USI was led by senior Kaelyn Lingenfelter (Rochester, Indiana), who won the tournament with a two-day 146 (76-70). The second-round 70 is a career-best for Lingenfelter, whose previous career-best was 75. Sophomore Anastasia Carter (Granger, Indiana) followed Lingenfelter  by finishing in a tie for eighth with a 160 (76-84).
 
The next action for the Eagles will be October 12-13 in the UMSL Triton Invitational at Oak Terrace Resort & Spa in Pana, Illinois.
