EVANSVILLE, Ind. –
With victories at No. 2 and 3 doubles, the University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team was able to edge McKendree University Friday afternoon 5-3 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
 
Junior Morgan Coquerille and freshman Elizabeth Skinner gave the Eagles a point with an 8-5 win. Senior Ellena Stumpf and junior Shannon Joyce were also winners at No. 3 doubles with an 8-4 victory.
 
The Screaming Eagles (7-5, 2-0) lost No. 1 and 2 singles, but Coquerille gave USI a win at No. 3 6-3, 6-0.
 
At the No. 5 and 6 slots, junior Alyssa Hoover took down McKendree's (4-4, 0-2) Lauren Putbrese 6-2, 6-1, and Skinner retired her foe 6-4, 6-1 to give the Eagles their fifth point.
 
Next up for the Eagles is a match with Bellarmine University at 10 a.m. Saturday on the USI Tennis Courts.
