USI women’s tennis opens season with a win

EVANSVILLE, Ind. –
Opening the match with three doubles victories, the University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team cruised to a 7-2 win over Cedarville University Saturday morning at the USI Tennis Courts.
 
The Screaming Eagles (1-0) dominated number two doubles, as freshman Eizabeth Wilm and senior Lindsey White were victorious 8-1. In number one doubles, junior Morgan Coquerille and senior Ellena Stumpf won 8-5 and in number three doubles, junior Stephanie Smith and senior Logan Ackerman posted the 8-5 victory.
 
After dropping number one singles, USI rattled off victories in number two, three, four and five, as White, Wilm, Stumpf and Ackerman all notched the wins.  The Yellowjackets (0-1) though were able to grab the sixth singles match, as USI's Alyssa Hoover fell 6-4, 6-1.
 
Next for the Eagles is the ITA Midwest Regional in Grand Rapids, Michigan, September 21-23.
