HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team stumbled for the first time in Great Lakes Valley Conference play with a 6-3 loss to Northern Kentucky University Saturday afternoon in Highland Heights, Kentucky. USI falls to a 7-7 overall mark and 2-1 in the GLVC, while NKU goes to 5-6, 1-1 GLVC.
The Screaming Eagles fell behind in doubles play after the Norse captured two of the three matches. Juniors
Ellena Stumpf and
Lindsey White picked up USI's only point in doubles play with an 8-3 victory in number one doubles.
NKU completed its victory over USI by taking four of the six singles matches. White picked up a straight set win for USI at number one singles, 7-5 and 6-4, while Stumpf took number three singles for the Eagles, 6-3 and 7-5.
The Eagles return the friendly surroundings of the USI Tennis Courts April 6 when they host the Flyers of Lewis University. The USI-Lewis match starts a five-match homestand to end the 2011-12 regular season for the Eagles.
