INDIANAPOLIS—The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team saw a 2-1 lead fall by the wayside Friday afternoon as it suffered a 5-4 Great Lakes Valley Conference setback to host University of Indianapolis.

USI (5-10, 2-2 GLVC) jumped out to a 2-1 lead with wins at number one and two doubles. The Screaming Eagles, however, lost in a tiebreaker at number three doubles, a match that would turn out to be a momentum-changing result.

The Eagles, who have lost three straight matches including two in GLVC play, got straight-set wins at number one and two doubles to increase their lead; but a three-set loss at number three singles as well as straight-set losses at number four, five, and six singles allowed the Greyhounds to rally for the victory.

Senior Michelle Girgenti and sophomore Lindsey White, who combined for an 8-0 win at number one doubles, led the Eagles with two wins apiece. Girgenti was victorious at number one singles, while White earned a victory at number two singles.

USI returns to action Saturday at noon when it takes on No. 42 Ferris State University in a NCAA II Midwest Region contest in Romeoville, Illinois. USI finishes its GLVC regular-season schedule Sunday at 10 a.m. when it visits Lewis University in Romeoville.
