EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team could not recover from a 4-1 deficit Saturday as it fell to visiting Northern Kentucky University, 6-3, at the USI Tennis Courts.
USI (5-8, 2-1 GLVC) trailed 2-1 after losing at number two and three doubles. The Screaming Eagles lost straight-set decisions at number one and two singles before getting a three-set victory from freshman
Morgan Coquerille at number three singles.
Coquerille's victory cut the Eagles' deficit to 4-2, but a straight-set loss at number four singles sealed USI's fate as Northern Kentucky (8-3, 3-0 GLVC) held on for the victory.
Freshman
Alyssa Hoover joined Coquerille in the win column with her straight-set triumph at number six singles, while senior
Michelle Girgenti and sophomore
Lindsey White teamed up for an 8-2 victory at number one doubles.
USI returns to action Wednesday at 4 p.m. when it hosts the University of Missouri-St. Louis in a non-conference men's and women's doubleheader at the USI Tennis Courts.
