ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team fell short at Lewis University, 6-3, Sunday morning in Romeoville, Illinois. USI falls to 5-12 overall and 2-3 in the GLVC, while Lewis rises to 9-4, 4-0 GLVC.
The Flyers jumped out in front of the Screaming Eagles early by sweeping the three doubles matches.
USI attempted to comeback in singles, but was only able to split the six singles matches. Freshman Morgan Corquerille put USI on the scoreboard with a win at number three singles with a three-set victory.
USI sophomore Elllena Stumpf picked up the second win for the Eagles with a straight-set win at number four singles. The final USI point was posted by freshman
Alyssa Hoover at number six singles in straight sets.
The Eagles conclude the GLVC schedule April 15 when they travel to Kentucky Wesleyan College for a 2 p.m. match. USI finishes the regular season April 20 when it goes across town to play the University of Evansville in a 3:30 p.m. showdown.
