EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team starts its longest road swing of the year when it travels to Lewis University Friday and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Sunday to begin a series of five-matches away from home. Kick-off Friday at Lewis is 7:30 p.m., while the start time Sunday at UW-Parkside is 2:30 p.m.
Match coverage, including live stats, can be found at gousieagles.com.
The Screaming Eagles (1-8-1, 0-7-1 GLVC) hope to take off during the road trip after breaking its seven-match losing streak with a 0-0 double-overtime tie with Saint Joseph's College last Sunday. USI, however, needs to get the offense jump-started to fully get back on the right track.
Through nine games, USI has only been able to muster eight goals and has been within one goal in five of the eight losses.
The Flyers of Lewis (4-6-0, 4-4-0 GLVC) have been up and down since starting the season with a pair of losses. Lewis returns to its home field to host the Eagles after winning a 3-2 match at Bellarmine University and losing 1-0 at Northern Kentucky University last weekend.
USI trails in the all-time series with Lewis, 21-18-0, with the Flyers capturing the last eight meetings with the Eagles.
The Rangers of UW-Parkside (5-4-1, 3-4-1 GLVC), who host Kentucky Wesleyan College Friday before welcoming the Eagles, are coming off a 0-2-0 road trip. UW-Parkside lost 1-0 at NKU and 2-0 at Bellarmine during GLVC action last weekend.
The all-time series between USI and UW-Parkside favors the Rangers, 15-6-1. The Eagles have been flying high against the Rangers in recent years, winning three of the last four and posting a 2-1 win at Strassweg Field last fall.
The remainder of the road swing includes a trip to Maryville University on October 14; the University of Missouri-St. Louis on October 16; and Oakland City University on October 19.
