EVANSVILLE, Ind. - University of Southern Indiana Men's Soccer will wrap up a two-game homestand at Strassweg Field with a visit from the Bellarmine University Knights on Tuesday, September 8, at 5 p.m.

USI (0-1-2) is coming off a hard-fought 1-0 loss to Indiana University Indianapolis last Wednesday, in which the team outshot the Jaguars 14 to 9 but was unable to find an equalizing goal.
 
Senior midfielder Garrett Morris led the team with three shots and two on goal, followed by sophomore midfielder Edin Cvorovic and freshman defender Bryce Siegel with two shots each. Cvorovic had two on target. Sophomore goalkeeper Jacob English led the team from a defensive front, surrendering one goal on a penalty kick and making seven saves.
 
The Screaming Eagles' three goals allowed to start the season are the fewest goals allowed to start the season (three games) since 2020.
 
The Bellarmine Knights (3-0-1, 1-0 ASUN) beat Stetson University in their last match on Saturday, 1-0, scoring their only goal in the 76th minute of the match. Stetson outshot Bellarmine 12 to 6, but the Knights managed to find a way to win.
 
Last season, the Knights finished 8-4-5 and 3-1-2 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Bellarmine returned their top goal scorer from last season, junior forward Johan Nissen-Lie. Nissen-Lie scored 10 goals for the Knights a year ago. This season, Nissen-Lie has not scored but has assisted on a goal. Bellarmine's top goal scorer for this season is junior forward Teddy Franke, who has two goals. The Knights' net is protected by sophomore goalkeeper Benny Howard and senior goalkeeper Lordan Tudor, both of whom have split time in goal. They are allowing 0.75 goals per game while collecting seven saves on the year.
 
Tuesday's matchup is the 45th meeting between the two teams all-time. The Screaming Eagles have the series advantage over the Knights, 25-17-2.  In the last meeting on September 14, 2024, the Knights got the better of the Screaming Eagles, winning 8-0.
