EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team closed its fall season with an 8-1 victory over Brescia University Wednesday evening at the USI Tennis Courts.

USI (2-0) picked up wins at number one and two doubles while taking advantage of a default victory at three doubles to build a comfortable 3-0 lead heading into singles action.

The Screaming Eagles, who also had a default win at six singles to increase their lead to 4-0, recorded straight-set wins at number one, three, four, and five singles, before suffering a three-set loss at number two singles.

Senior Michelle Girgenti and freshman Morgan Coquerille each had a pair of wins to lead the Eagles. Girgenti was victorious at number one singles and one doubles, while Coquerille picked up wins at two doubles and three singles.

The Eagles will compete in an exhibition—the Gunderson Mixed Doubles Tournament—with the USI men's team October 13 at 3:30 p.m. at the USI Tennis Courts. They open the championship portion of their schedule in March.
